Juan Silva
Born in December 8, 1974.

I've spent many years of my life in the city of A Coruña, for work, always looking for a future, always looking for something more.

I'm from a place where every question is answered with more questions, and no,
it's not an urban legend, that's how we Galicians are, seekers of answers
in questions and questions in answers, that's where my curiosity comes from
to know, to learn, to create...

I'm a cabinetmaker by profession, one of those they say no longer exists. After
20 years with a company in the furniture sector, dealing with large chestnut beams and solid pine bars to turn them into pieces that decorate homes,
the constant search for art in everything I do leads me to expand. They say
it's "The Call of Art"...

I began to approach the world of art in a self-taught way, ways that some of us human beings have of expressing who we are or what we think.
As one of my main role models has said:
The beauty of the training I give to life is that there is a constant "Working in Progress" that is always there for you. (Jaume Plensa).
My learning journey began when I met Carlos Franco (sculptor),
my tutor, my teacher; in 2010, I had the opportunity to delve deeper into what initially was learning the main techniques of sculpture, and since then, it hasn't stopped...

Since then, I can say that of all the art formats, the one I like the most is the large one, the one created on a grand scale, and whose size never allows it to go unnoticed.
That is precisely what I would like to generate with my work: for the observer to pass by, see it, and be invited to think. In this automated world we live in, it is a gift to the essence of human beings that art leads us to delve into ourselves, to reflect on who we are and where we want to go.
Art has definitely always been and always will be within each person,
and with it the human being's capacity to feel.
As an artist, it has led me to create a different version of myself that I enjoy. It leads me to live in complete harmony between who I am and what I want, which I try to reflect in my work.
This is a continuous learning process, especially because the world is full of teachers, so we must be attentive and open to recognize where people's valuable information lies; that in itself is art.
I invite you to discover my works.
