Elsa Faudé
france
Elsa Faudé is a French visual artist and photographer based in Barcelona. Her production has been focused on photography mixed with video, installations and literature. During the last decade, travelling and experimenting a nomadic lifestyle allow her for a committed exploration of the world. From 2014 to 2017, she organized photographic exchanges, with her association Arterre and different NGO’s, between young people from indigeneous comunities (Peru, Bolivia, India, Sri Lanka, Brasil, Cameroun) and periferic neighbourhoods of Toulouse. Throughout her certificate degree of Fine Art Photography at the University of Los Angeles California Extension and her different masters in Fine Arts, Literature and Photography, she realized works where her wandering raised philosophical, political and aesthetical questions about the interaction of the space, art and body. In 2018, she obtained the UCLA award art competition honour mention. In 2024, she began to expose in European galleries like Arteria, Artokgallery, Blanca gallery and festivals like Artelfel or Luminic. In march 2024, her work has been selected for the portfolios reviews and the competition prize Descubrimientos by PhotoEspaña. In june 2024, she obtained an accésit prize at the Luminic festival artists call.
Elsa Faudé has explored the photographic concept of transit, related to identity construction, mythologies and cultural territories. Her visual language engages in dialogue with poetry, in a nostalgic atmosphere, to capture the complexe postmodern relationship between the human bodies and their environment. Inspired by road-movie cinematography, hyperrealistic painting and surrealistic imagery, she creates hybrid dispositives, both analogical and digital, to reveal the structures of marginalisation, invisibilisation and emancipation. In the midst of a political, environmental and migratory crisis, she conceives her photography as a stream of consciousness, a language in suspension, to embrace individual and collective struggles, dreams and impermanences.

“For me, photography is the embodiment of time lost, suspended, and rediscovered; it captures the evanescence of a world in decay and paradoxically becomes a battleground for rekindling harmony. It’s within this threshold of chaos and order that the creative process is born, takes meaning and is worth more than the artwork itself”.
