Pablo Bruera
Uruguay
Pablo Bruera was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1972. He lived in Caracas, Venezuela from 1974 to 1984 when he returned with his family to Uruguay. His childhood contact with the work of Venezuelan kinetic artists will have a later influence on his work.

At the age of fifteen he published his first press drawing. His work as an illustrator for newspapers and magazines extends until 2001.

Draftsman, engraver, painter and sculptor; It is in this last discipline where he incorporates movement into his pieces of solid constructive language. If Cruz-Diez and Soto provoke the illusion of movement, Calder uses the wind in his mobiles and Tinguely uses motors and gears, Pablo Bruera needs the viewer to move and modify his sculptures. Without the participation of the viewer the work remains incomplete. By inviting you to touch, to modify, it also invites you to think, to look at the work that is being altered with the eyes of a sculptor. A game where roles, shapes and planes overlap. The monumental sculptures displayed in the public space are the quintessence of its interactive proposal. Bringing art to the street, within everyone's reach, is also a declaration of principles. His kinetic works have moved through different streets, collections, foundations, museums and galleries in Spain, Uruguay, Brazil, France, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
